Teaching and Learning Collaborative,(TLC)

The Colleges of the Fenway’s Teaching and Learning Collaborative (TLC), supports and builds on faculty development programs offered by the individual colleges of the six-college consortium and develops new, effective, and innovative opportunities for collaborative faculty development for them.  The goals of the TLC are to: 1) enhance faculty teaching through shared professional development experiences; 2) share expertise to strengthen programs on individual campuses; 3) facilitate support networks across and within institutions; and 4) increase collaborative academic programs and research.

While the content focus of specific initiatives and events varies, all TLC offerings are developed and delivered collaboratively; emphasize the relationship between learning, teaching and scholarship/creative production; result in the implementation of action plans; and encourage small communities of practice and research in areas of faculty interest.  Annual events of the TLC include the Summer Teaching Institute, the Fall New Faculty Reception, the Annual Teaching and Learning Conference, and the Spring Faculty Reception.  A four-course certificate program for Teaching College Effectively with Technology was initiated in summer, 2011.

The grant that funds the TLC was received from the Davis Educatitonal Foundation established by Stanton and Elisabeth Davis after Mr. Davis's retirement as chairman of Shaw's Supermarket, Inc.
